Great Ideas Come to Life!

I LOVE The Homeschool Lounge. For a variety of reasons really. I think I have found our Science curriculum thanks to the moms on there and I found Click N Spell. CNS is $50 though, so that was out, until today when No More Rack had it for $10!!!!! YAHOO!! I bought it and so far Candice is doing OK. She got 25%, then 50% and needs at least 60% until she can move on to the next lesson. It doesnt follow along with our Spelling, but it will help build her vocab.

1plus1plus1equals1 had a GREAT idea for keeping playdoh from getting messy and picked up! Use a Jewelry box, Fishing Box, etc. She got her box off Amazon, but I went to Walmart. for $10, they had a Jewelry Box over by where the beads and things are. Its tall enough playdoh containers can fit in it (tall ones laying down, small ones standing) + everything that goes with playdoh (scissors, shapes, cutters). I LOVE it much better!!!
Then she had Blocks that she puts her children's spelling words in and i decided to make some rather than buy some off Amazon like she did. :)

Other than that, Candice has a Phonics test on Friday to see if she knows the Vowel Rules. She is doing GREAT in Math, we are already on lesson 14 of MUS!!! Addition + 1 was today. She really seems to grasp Math much better with MUS! Spelling we played on CNS and Then played with the Spelling Blocks. Shed roll the dice and say and spell the word. We are skipping out on writing for right now, im still trying to see if its worth it to do it. She gets bored because its too easy for her. 

A Break you say?

I am officially pulling Lana out of lessons. She is just not ready. She will start in the fall. I think I was continuing to measure her up to Candice and I can't keep doing that. I am getting frustrated because she is not Candice and that is not fair to her.

For now, i have 1 Homeschooler.

Skate! Skates! Skater!

Friday our local Homeschool group is having a Skate Party! Im excited because we have been wanting to take Candice and because its cheap and a way to meet other homeschoolers.

Rules, Rules and more Rules!

Candice has been working on Phonics Rules- Silent E, Hard C/Soft C, Hard G/Soft G and then today was TH and CH sound. Lana worked on letter O and Letter C.
Math is review of numbers 1,2 and adding 3 and 4. Candice is working on 100s and then adding.
Spelling is working on her week 2 words, which she is ok on.
Writing is more Os for Lana and Practice for candice.

So far this week is going well. We missed 2 days last week. Its ok though, we just need to work on a set schedule rather than skipping.

Can we say Science?

I think we have decided on Apologia Science for next year!! Im actually excited about it! Its christian based, has lots of hands on activities, very detailed, plus has a notebook- which i think will help Candice get involved (she LOVES that Sid the Science kids has a notebook). Its only $60 (give or take) for a Book + Notebook and the Book is designed to last all school year. We still need History though.

Lessons at Nana's house

Today we are going to do lessons at my mom's house. It should prove to be interesting as my mom is still on the fence about us homeschooling. I am hoping maybe showing her everything will help her to understand.

Field Trip Day!!

Today the weather was so nice I decided not to do lessons. Maybe we needed a break anyway? I decided to take the girls to Krohn Conservatory here in Cincinnati. The girls have never been and for $4, i thought "why not?"
I didnt really find many teaching moments, but it was more Art/Field Trip. Candice took TONS of pictures and I definitely think it's something we'll do again. They even have programs for schools, so of course ill need to call and see if we as homeschoolers count!
